Why Integrative Mental Health?

Integrative mental health is a holistic approach that considers the whole person, not just the symptoms. Some hallmarks that differentiate integrative mental health from traditional psychiatric care include the following

  • Personalized care: Integrative mental health care is tailored to the individual’s needs, preferences and circumstances. It takes into account the person’s physical, emotional, social, spiritual and environmental influences
  • Combination of traditional and complementary treatments Traditional treatments, like medication and psychotherapy are utilized as well as  complementary therapies such as mindfulness meditation, energy work, supplements, exercise and nutritional support
  • Prevention and root Causes: Integrative mental health care aims to prevent mental health problems by addressing their root causes such as stress, trauma or nutritional deficiencies rather than  managing symptoms.
  • Less reliance on medication: While medication can be an important part of treatment, integrative care often seeks to minimize its use by exploring other effective therapies. This can be appealing to those who have experienced side effects or have concerns about long-term medication use.
